Sepsis is still pretty much around ...

Updates : The lung infection is still there. So the doctor couldn't take off the ventilator system that has been assisting her breathing as yet. Her breathing was still not in the spontaneous breathing pattern so she has still to be hooked to the ventilatory system. Her platelet count has also decreases in fact, showing the single digit and has not reach the safe zone. The doctor asked us to pray that her blood count will increase with the help of IV IG that has been given twice daily for the three first days so that it won't result to other complications. She is given antibiotics to get rid of the sepsis and they expect the infection to clear within another 3 to 4 days. The dialysis is also still on to keep her blood clean as to make way for her kidneys which has malfunctioned a bit after the sudden flare atack.

p/s : Sepsis is the body's response to infection. Normally, the body's own defense system fights infection, but in severe sepsis, the body's normal reaction goes into overdrive, setting off a cascade of events that can lead to widespread inflammation and blood clotting in tiny vessels throughout the body.
